Learning WordPress – Part 2

Part 1

I almost forgot to make a part 2 but then I saw part 1 and said to myself, “Oh yeah, I should make part 2 sometime.” A few days after thinking that, now I’m writing this post. Anyways, let’s continue with:

WordPress Settings

What I did for this wasn’t very interesting, I just kind of went through all the settings and picked what I liked, but some things of note I changed:

  • On the Discussion tab, I made it where you don’t need to enter a name or email or be approved to post a comment. I’m not a big fan of having to make a ton of accounts. Don’t push it though, I can easily change it back. I also get every commentor’s IP address =]

Okay, so that’s actually the only noteworthy change. After this, URL Problems happened.

Edit 8/13/24: I forgot to mention but I added a caching plugin after that which despite my efforts to configure it only works when reloading a page in the same few minutes. I don’t know how to fix that, and probably won’t.

Edit 9/18/24: As of a week or two ago I now use Cloudflare, and have switched caching plugins to take advantage of that. Now all the pages load pretty much instantly.

Short post, but I didn’t think about how little was left to write about when making part 1 as long as it was.
